September 12th was a special day to the startup ecosystem in the region. Startup Sauna Local Event has visited Budapest to meet promising startups.

Startup Sauna Local Events are one-day coaching events taking place two months prior to the accelerator program in 20+ cities within Nordics, Eastern Europe and Russia. It was the 8th time the coaches visited our beautiful city.

In total 22 startups applied to the event and 16 get the opportunity to pitch and listen to honest feedback on their business potential on Monday. The teams came from quite various sectors including but not limited to fintech, cyber security, gamification and green energy.

The pitching startups were:

  • ZuuHoo, an e-commerce platform for local SMBs worldwide with a unique marketing system which will minimise the physical and virtual gap between consumer needs and retail offers.
  • Wyze pitched a fully automatic microsaving app, called Safe2Save, which helps young professionals to save money for the future. It suggests personalized savings and investment options based on the user’s financial history, automatically transfers and invests these savings in an efficient portfolio.
  • Tye, whose founders think that keeping contact information up-to-date takes too much time effort and money, that is why they came up with the idea of Tye. Tye is a web and mobile app that solves the problem by reversing how it’s done.
  • Horizonguide, a GPS-based storytelling app for long-distance public transport, which tells the travelers stories and information about the buildings and landscapes they see from the window.
  • Avatao, a team whose aim is to teach the next generation IT security professionals.
  • Ecosim, who would like to lauch a simulation game where the user can learn about how to run a startup.
  • ArcSecond, that is a developing proprietary end-to-end wearable technology that amplifies overall guest experience at Ski Resorts.
  • Seon, that provides the highest stardards of e-commerce fraud prevention by combining big data analytics state-of-the-art techniques.
•, an all-in-one projectmanagement tool for teams that covers the whole product development workflow with different moduls for each circle.
  • Greenergizer provides solution to reduce energy spendings which is the second highest cost after labor costs. It monitors and also controls the costs.
  • Parkour’s goal is to solve the problem of the hassle of paying for parking and gas. Parkour users register their cars and credit cards to enable it to act as a payment token at every location with a Parkour terminal camera.
  • Atmo, whose slogen is ‘Experience play like never before.’
  • and Synqom aiming to build community in the music industry.

5 of them were selected to 1on1 coaching sessions with handpicked serial entrepreneurs, investors and other professionals. Others, who were not selected to the coaching, gathered together to roundtables on different subjects like go-to-market stategy, validation, team buliding and fundraising.

After the coaching sessions, the Finnish and the local coaches have chosen two startups Avatao and SEON (Congrats guys!) who got the opportunity to be selected to the Startup Sauna accelerator and Slush. Now they are eagerly waiting for the end of the local events and the announcement of the finalists!

We asked Avatao, one of the winner startups about their experiences at Startup Sauna:

“The Startup Sauna local event was really eye-opening for a couple of reasons. First of all, the coaches were blunt, but positive at the same time. They formulated valid critiques for our startup, especially about the execution. Yet, they were constructive in giving advice that could push the startup further. The feedback was generally positive, but the coaches spotted the two major weaknesses most startups have: the lack of focus in target groups and customers, and the corresponding slow execution. They suggested to focus more on validation and speed.”

Thanks again for Mosaik to be our host!
