Shift Conference: Meet the Challengers


Shift Conference announces the 32 teams that have entered the Shift Challenge and have a chance to win the $10.000 Grand Prize.

The Shift Challenge is a unique chance to win glory, fame and prizes from Softlayer, Nokia or the grand prize a $10.000 check from Societe Generale (Splitska Banka), with no strings attached. The winner of the final will be selected out of the 32 participants.

The Shift Challenge will take place on the 22nd of May, which is the Mentors day. All day, the teams will pitch, get feedback and have meetings between the teams and mentors, which are consisted of investors, journalists and entrepreneurs.

After going through over 130 applications from 4 continents, the day has come to announce the 32 teams that have entered the Shift Challenge.

The exhibitors selected to participate will compete for valuable prizes, among them a 20-minute one-on-one Skype conversation with one of the superstars of the international startup world: Alexis Ohanian (Reddit, Hipmunk), Naval Ravikand (Angel List, Venture Hacks), Eric Ries (The Lean Startup, IMVU), or Mark Suster (GRP partners, This Week In Venture Capital). The 20 minutes can be freely used for pitching an idea or getting advice on developing it.

The Startup Ecosystem Report


Telefonica released a report on the global startup ecosystem in Nov 2012. They analysed 50k stakeholders and found that the rest of the world is catching up to Silicon Valley. Sadly, our region is still missing from the global top 20, the closest hubs being Moscow and Berlin. Continue reading
